WHO WE ARE

Our foundation is built on decades of accumulative expertise across diverse building disciplines—from historic deep energy retrofits and panelized passive house builds to multifamily developments and industrial fitouts. Across all three of our divisions, our mission is to build durable, generational structures designed to stand the test of time. By aligning rigorous field execution with robust, in house backend support, we ensure your project is completed with logistical clarity and an exceptional customer experience from start to finish.

JOIN OUR TEAM

Great projects start with great people. At Lord Building Solutions, we take pride in our craft, support one another, and hold ourselves to a higher standard of building science and quality. We are always looking for driven, reliable people to join our growing team across Maine and New Hampshire—whether you’re an experienced tradesperson or just starting your path. Fill out the form below, and let’s talk about your future with us.

Alex

Alex Lord

Owner, President
Alex Lord is a second-generation builder, carpenter by trade, and high-performance building specialist who founded Lord Building Solutions (LBS). With a background managing Passive House production at GO LOGIC LLC and commercial construction as a project manager at Ducas Construction, Alex brings systematic operational leadership, transparent client communication, and modern building science to Northern New England. As a BPI-certified Building Analyst and Technician, as well as a regional authorized dealer for AeroBarrier and Aeroseal Duct technologies, Alex has established himself as the area's go-to building envelope expert. Across high-end remodeling, deep energy retrofits, offsite panelized construction, and aerosol air sealing, Alex is on a mission to craft airtight, high-performance generational homes and durable structures built to stand the test of time.
Sam

Sam Burrell

Born and raised in Maine, Sam earned a degree in exercise science and ran a personal training business before realizing he’d rather yell at construction schedules than gym members. As our Project Manager and Estimator, he uses his background in commercial contracting and a habit of "aggressive over-communication" to keep trades aligned, budgets tight, and projects running smoothly. Off the jobsite, Sam stays active with his family and considers himself quite the outdoorsman, as most of his time on a golf course is in search of his ball somewhere in the woods.
Sabrina

Sabrina Shelzi

Office Manager
As our resident Office Manager, Sabrina keeps our administrative gears turning and our files completely under control. With a background in web and graphic design, she brings a unique mix of admin wizardry, accidental IT support, and a visual flair that makes even her spreadsheets look suspiciously beautiful. When she isn't wrestling with the company accounts, Sabrina is usually in her backyard playing in the dirt—a love for gardening that might just turn out to be excellent practice for the construction industry.
Alex Lord

Matt Damon

Before joining the team, Matt spent years on the front lines of energy efficiency—owning a home performance contracting company, weatherizing thousands of Maine homes, and even helping launch innovative wood fiber insulation products. As our Efficiency Maine Division Manager, Matt leverages his deep building science knowledge to help homeowners maximize their incentives and make their spaces healthier, comfier, and way more energy-efficient. He’s a certified HERS Rater and has been a proud BPI Building Analyst since 2008. He holds a degree in Zoology, which means he can handle both Maine’s wild weather and its building science with ease. When he isn't obsessing over weatherization, Matt can be found Nordic skiing, hiking, cycling, gardening, sailing, or trying to keep up with his wife — two daughters, and two dogs.
Darrel

Darrel Dennison

With a background in residential frame-to-finish carpentry and a degree in Construction and Design from SMCC, Darrel is the definition of a dual threat. On any given day at LBS, you’ll find him meticulously sealing up building envelopes as an air sealing tech or wielding a hammer as a carpenter in our General Contracting Division. When he’s not obsessing over airtight structures and fine woodworking, Darrel loves getting outdoors, trivia, and listening to heavy metal—which makes sense, considering his workday already revolves around pressure testing, robust air seals, and heavy-duty precision.
Rufus

Rufus Koblenzer

Born and raised in Massachusetts before escaping north to Maine, Rufus is reported by coworkers to be one of the friendliest former Massholes you’ll ever meet—though recovery is, of course, an ongoing process. As Site Superintendent, he brings a deep obsession for building science, historic preservation, and high-performance building envelopes to every jobsite. Off the clock, Rufus volunteers as an assistant wrestling coach at a Local High School and nerdily studies classical architecture—meaning whether he’s pinning an opponent, geeking out over a 200-year-old farmhouse, or sealing up an air leak, he approaches everything with absolute precision.
